Analysis

Visual Media Analysis:

My choice behind creating a montage on the topic ‘Love’ was to highlight the simplicity of love itself. Hence my choice of a black and white filter upon my video, I find the use of black and white creates this sense of nostalgia as well as complete focus on the subjects within my video. Therefore, capturing the aura of my video perfectly.

The title: “concepts of love” being the primary colour red supports the theme of my video due to the colour red symbolising the association with passion, desire and of course love. Additionally, the lowercase letters further implies my focus on the video being on love around the city, specifically within my London borough of Camden. When editing the positioning of the title on the video I wanted to make it clear yet not have it overwhelming the first shot within the video itself. The positioning on the bottom left of the shot allows the title to be understood clearly without anything in the shot clashing with the title.

Audio Analysis:

My choice behind the cover of the audio being a still shot taken from my video of ‘concepts of love?’ allows my project to have links within each element explored and created. Furthermore, I found this candid shot of a couple to suit the topic of love. By keeping the image in black and white the elements are kept coherent with one another

When editing the audios together I had to use the equaliser tool in which I changed the settings from “flat” to “voice enhancer” to make the voices within the interview crisp. I wanted to see if I could reduce the background noise however the tool to do so made the audios sound clinical. This then distracted the audio and made it hard to hear the interviews clearly, so I kept the basic setting of “voice enhancer”.

Writing process:

My narrative was a daughter writing about what her dead mother meant to her. I wanted to add layers within this creative writing piece to allow the reader an insight on the daughter’s complicated relationship with herself, now that her mother has passed. I wanted to show how she attempts to reenact aspects of her mother’s life by places in which deeply reminded her of her mother.

With the 600 world limit I didn’t want to end the piece on ‘to be continued’ as I found it would be more interesting to have this piece almost be a journal or diary entry that as readers we feel an element of guilt reading.

This image of my plan showcases the ideas I had and how I wrote down sentences in which helped me then create the final piece.

Web Design Analysis:

The use of font was highly important because I wanted to keep the idea of simplicity throughout my website. The colouring of the subtitles was important, this is due to the theme of love in which I have explored and how I wanted an elegant colour to not only represent my view on love but also have relevance to my borough in which is Camden. This burgundy pink colour of font replicated what I wanted my project to be about which was love but also this colour implies many things, one being sophistication which I thought suited the Borough of Camden.

My choice of colours behind this website was to reiterate my theme of love, with the tones of dark red and light pink along with black and white, match the thought process behind my visual media of ‘My London’. I wanted to maintain this throughout my work so as a whole the coherence was obvious.
